Biofertech Germany Startup Tour in Bochum: Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture and Carbon Credits for Decarbonization

Biofertech participated in the Germany Startup Tour in Bochum, highlighting its leadership in climate-smart agriculture, carbon sequestration, and regenerative land management. The tour provided an opportunity to engage with German agritech startups, research institutions, innovation hubs, and climate finance actors, exploring avenues for carbon credits in the German decarbonization market.

CEO Mr. Ounas Rostom led Biofertech’s delegation, presenting the company’s field-tested solutions designed to capture carbon in soils, enhance agricultural productivity, and restore degraded lands. Key areas emphasized during the tour included:

  • Digital Soil Monitoring & Carbon Analytics: Advanced sensors and platforms to measure soil organic carbon, nutrient levels, and moisture in real time, providing verifiable data for carbon credit certification.

  • Regenerative Soil Amendments: Biofertech’s proprietary soil conditioners that improve soil structure, boost organic carbon storage, and enhance fertility, forming the basis for agriculture-based carbon credits.

  • Precision Agriculture Technologies: GPS-guided machinery, variable rate application, and geospatial analytics that optimize inputs, minimize emissions, and maximize yield, ensuring carbon-smart farming practices.

  • Climate-Smart Agriculture Practices: Water-efficient irrigation, cover cropping, crop rotation, and no-till farming methods that enhance resilience to drought while increasing soil carbon sequestration.

  • Expertise Sharing & Capacity Building: Collaborative workshops and knowledge transfer with German agritech innovators to co-develop verified carbon projects compatible with European decarbonization requirements.

The tour also highlighted how Biofertech’s solutions can generate carbon credits for the German and European decarbonization markets, providing a bridge between North African climate-smart agriculture and international carbon finance systems. By combining technology, field-level interventions, and data-driven monitoring, Biofertech demonstrates a scalable, verifiable model for sustainable land management and climate-positive agriculture.

Through this tour, Biofertech strengthened its international partnerships and explored avenues to monetize carbon sequestration while contributing to global decarbonization goals, positioning Algeria and the Mediterranean region as active contributors to climate finance and sustainable agriculture.
